5 Best DigiCal Alternatives in 2026
Published · Updated · 7 min read
The right DigiCal alternative depends on what you use DigiCal for. Choose Business Calendar 2 or aCalendar for another full planner with widgets, Fossify Calendar for a free app without ads, and Super Agenda if the widget is all you need.
Features and prices checked on 2026-10-23.
Why people switch from DigiCal
DigiCal is a capable app. Its Play listing names seven views, six home screen widgets with nine preset themes, sync with Google Calendar, Outlook and Exchange, a weather forecast, holiday and sports calendars, a dark theme, and a local calendar that needs no sync. The developer's site says the widgets can go on the lock screen.
People switch for practical reasons:
- The free version shows ads. DigiCal+ removes them.
- The year view, two of the widgets and some customization options are in DigiCal+, according to the listing.
- The developer's site says extended weather is a subscription. It does not state whether DigiCal+ is a one-time purchase or a subscription, so check the listing before you buy.
- You may want a smaller app, or a widget that is easier to style.

1. Business Calendar 2: Best for tasks and a wide feature set
Android, Wear OS. Free with ads, with a Pro upgrade. The Business Calendar 2 listing shows month, week, day and year planners, seven widgets with a choice of themes, tasks through Google Tasks, sync with Google Calendar, Outlook, Exchange and CalDAV, and a Wear OS app.
Replaces DigiCal's:
- Views and widgets
- Sync with the same services
- A local planner with no sync
- Weather (a Pro feature in Business Calendar 2)
Does not replace:
- Holiday, sports and TV calendars as a catalog. The listing mentions birthdays and public holidays only.
- A free version without ads
Trade-offs:
- Ads in the free version, in-app purchases for Pro
- A bigger app than many people need
2. aCalendar: Best for a one-time purchase
Android. Free with occasional ads, plus a paid aCalendar+. The aCalendar+ listing says it uses Android's native calendar backend and synchronization. It shows day, week, month and year views and full-screen widgets. The developer's help site lists agenda, date, day and week widgets. The free app's listing says its upgrades are one-time purchases.
Replaces DigiCal's:
- Day, week, month and year views
- Widgets for agenda, date, day and week
- Per-event colors, over 100 calendar colors and a custom event font size
- Public holidays and birthdays
Does not replace:
- Weather. The listing does not mention it.
- A preset theme gallery for widgets. The listing does not mention one.
Trade-offs:
- aCalendar+ showed a price of 11.99 USD on the US listing on 2026-10-23. Prices differ by country.
- You pay once, with no ads, but you pay up front.
3. Google Calendar: Best for a free, simple default
Android, Wear OS. Free. The Google Calendar listing shows month, week and day views, tasks, shared calendars, color coding, light and dark mode, and events added from Gmail. Google's help page lists two widgets: a schedule widget and a month view widget. The listing shows no ads and no in-app purchases.
Replaces DigiCal's:
- The main views
- A schedule widget and a month widget
- Dark mode
Does not replace:
- Six widgets with preset themes
- Weather. The listing does not mention it.
Trade-offs:
- Fewer ways to style the widget
- Best for people whose events are in a Google account

4. Fossify Calendar: Best for open source and no ads
Android. Free, open source (GPL-3.0). The Fossify Calendar listing promises no ads, no tracking and no intrusive permissions. It has daily, weekly, monthly, yearly and event views, and sync with Google Calendar, Outlook, Nextcloud and Exchange.
Replaces DigiCal's:
- The main views, including the year view
- Home screen widgets and themes. The listing says "calendar widgets" and does not name the types.
- Holiday and special date import
- Sync with the same services, and no ads
Does not replace:
- Weather. The listing does not mention it.
- A catalog of sports and TV calendars
Trade-offs:
- Fewer extras
- Check the widget types in the app before you switch
5. Super Agenda: Best if you only want the widget
Android 11 and newer. Free to download, with one one-time in-app purchase, Super Agenda Pro. This is our own app. It is a home screen widget, not a calendar app. It shows events from the calendars on your phone, including Google Calendar and any account that syncs to the Android calendar. It has no account, no ads and no sync of its own.
Replaces DigiCal's:
- The list widget, with optional day headers, an optional timeline and one or two columns
- Widget styling: colors, text sizes, shapes, transparency and corner radius, event color markers (bar, circle or dot)
- Built-in designs, saved presets and day and night themes that follow the system dark mode
- Several widgets, each with its own calendars and style
Does not replace:
- Calendar views, a month grid, tasks or weather
- Widgets on the lock screen
- A calendar app. A tap on an event opens it in your calendar app.
Trade-offs:
- Style options need Super Agenda Pro. The time settings and the calendar choice are free.
- There is no sync of its own. It reads the calendars on your phone.
